Dr. Wenqing Yang, CSO of Yunqiao Purui, Invited to Attend the Fifth Global Infectious Diseases Summit (WCID 2023)

The Fifth Global Infectious Diseases Conference (WCID) was held from October 23rd to 25th, 2023, in Boston, USA. Dr. WenQing Yang, co-founder and CSO of our company, attended this important event as a member of the Scientific Committee and delivered a keynote speech. The three-day conference featured nearly 100 academic presentations by experts and scholars from around the world, including prominent U.S. virology, infectious diseases, and public health experts such as Dr. Ranjan Ramasamy, Dr. Astagneau Pascal, Dr. Yongqing Li, and Professor Astagneau Pascal from France. As a member of the Scientific Committee, Dr. Yang also chaired the conference's scientific section.
Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019, infectious diseases have swept the globe, causing unprecedented impacts on public health and the economy worldwide. Infectious diseases are one of the most common causes of human disease and death globally. All forms of life on Earth are susceptible to pathogen infections that can cross species barriers and negatively impact human health and living environments. There is an urgent need for fundamental and translational research in infection biology to develop treatments for prevalent and emerging infectious diseases. The annual WCID promotes the sharing of the latest results in basic research on infectious diseases, spread, outbreaks, immune responses and evasion, and disease prevention and control. The organizing committee of the conference engaged in in-depth discussions on internationally urgent issues such as addressing infectious diseases and pandemics through keynote speeches, scientific discussions, expert meetings, and poster discussions. Approximately 40% of the presentations involved research on the globally concerning COVID-19 pandemic. The committee invited public health experts, medical personnel, microbiologists, epidemiologists, and infection prevention and control practitioners to the conference.
At the conference, Dr. Yang delivered a keynote speech titled “Guidance on MS animal model development: Experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis model by different myelin oligodendrocyte glycoproteins exhibit differentiated pharmacological responses.” Dr. Yang's insightful presentation provided unique insights for future research and development using upgraded preclinical model tools.
Dr. Yang, with about 30 years of experience in new drug development in the fields of oncology, autoimmunity, and immune-infection in China, the USA, and Canada, will lead ClinBrfidge Bio in building technical platforms in tumor immunology, autoimmunity, immune escape, mRNA vaccine development, and anti-infection mechanisms. His profound academic background and extensive practical experience will support the prevention and treatment of infectious and immune-related diseases.
